The Empathy Paradox
People cry for help when they think they are not in control. This makes any orientation understandable and empathetic—we see someone caught between a rock and a hard place, and we just want to help.
But often, an environment is created where true understanding is tossed out to coddle emotions. We speak in "protected language," which inadvertently diminishes the solution because the recipient no longer feels the need to know more or do better.
Self-Governance is not a punishment; it is the most empowering tool a human can have.
The Slippery Slope
The Problem
We are teaching children they are victims of their biology. This leads directly to a "slippery slope" of poor behavior, excused actions, and zero accountability.
The Solution
The Triad of Agency. By teaching kids the mechanics of their brain, the logic of their mind, and the rules of their world, we give them the harness they need to lead an honorable life.

The Driver (Philosophy)
Just because the engine wants to go 100mph doesn't mean the driver lets it. The driver uses logic and a "harness" (the steering wheel/brakes) to stay in complete control.
The Road (Sociology)
These are the rules of the road. We drive a certain way so we don't crash into others. We all agree to these rules so everyone can get where they're going safely.

Frame this as a matter of Human Dignity. Shift the tone from judgmental to empowering by challenging students to aspire to greatness.

"I believe you are more than just your biology. You have the cognitive power to be the master of your instincts. Don't sell yourself short by thinking you're 'locked in.'"
